Note: The name of the InDesign Style is generally irrelevant and can be whatever the designer prefers.

Languages i lang:xx Character For words italicised in other languages (excluding scientific latin). Format is lang: + code e.g. lang:fr
Languages span lang:xx Character for languages not italicized but meant to be pronounced in that language
Bold b bold Character
Uppercase for emphasis strong strong Character
Mixed strong strong strong-italics Character format should be 'upper dash format' e.g. strong-bold
Generic uppercase span upper Character Usually signs, callouts, etc.
Mixed upper span upper-italics Character format should be 'upper dash format' e.g. upper-bold
Colored or bolded words span color Character Often at start of lists.
Texting in fiction span texting Character
