Epub2 Remediation Step by Step

Note: Moving forward we will generally go back to the InDesign files rather than try to remediate the epub2 files.

1. open sigil, run epub3 plugin
2. remove Adobe files
3. change .html -> .xhtml
4. rename files
5. delete contents page if necessary (from nav.xhtml as well)
6. rename and move styles.css
7. add digitalrights.xhtml (to nav.xhtml as well)
8. Fix .opf file
   • check language in package xml:lang="en-US"
   • title, author etc
   • add pub date
   • update description
   • add rights
9. fix files
   • change headers, roles etc.
   • zero out styles
10. upsize cover
    • check colour contrast
11. <i> --> <em> etc.
12. update ncx
